Nextgen City Builders Smart & Sustainable Talk: Building Resilient Cities for the Future
On 25 April 2026, the Smart & Sustainable Talk was held at the SABE Gallery, UCSI University. The event was organized by IEM, IEEE Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Subsection in collaboration with IEEE R10 Humanitarian Technology Activities and participating partners, bringing together 34 participants, including one IEEE member, for an inspiring afternoon of learning and collaboration.
The program introduced participants to the key concepts of smart and sustainable city development, while exploring smart and sustainable city development, with a strong focus on:
Addressing urban challenges such as harnessing green technologies and highlighting the role of engineering innovation in building resilient cities
The presentation emphasized both practical applications and global perspectives, aligning with IEEE’s enduring motto: Advancing Technology for Humanity.
One of the highlights of the event was the team-based design challenge, where participants collaborated to develop and present future-ready city solutions. This interactive hands-on activity encouraged critical and creative thinking, allowing participants to transform ideas into tangible visions of sustainable urban living.
In terms of impact and visibility, the Smart & Sustainable Talk successfully showcased IEEE’s visibility and commitment to raising awareness about sustainable, technology-driven urban development. By engaging participants in meaningful discussions and practical exercises, the program reinforced IEEE’s role in advancing innovation that benefits communities worldwide.
